£1,500
raised!

The Peper Harow annual cricket match raised a staggering £1,500, largely thanks to a tea-time auction conducted by the inimitable Robert Fuller. Despite a very grim weather forecast, play started on time and it was generally sunny. The Richard Styles XI opened the batting and put on what everyone thought was a gettable 146 – 9. The Stephen Hall XI were confident at the outset but when the score stood at 1 – 3 things looked tricky. The captain compared the situation to Rorke’s Drift which inspired the team to bat on valiantly and it passed 100 with a wicket in hand. The final wicket fell at 106.

Congratulations go to the Styles side, particularly Man of the Match Alistair Keith who scored an unbeated 42 and took two wickets in the field.
